I quite often get asked, “Have you always done Beauty Hannah?" and the simple answer is…. “NO!”
If someone had told me 10 years ago that I would be running a business that specialises in Brows and Lashes, I would have laughed in their face! It’s funny where life takes you, my previous career was in Computer Animation. As a child, all I ever wanted to do was work for Disney… but that obviously wasn’t meant to be.
The recession in 2008 made it impossible for me to get a job, and after a few years of scrapping around for work, I decided to take the plunge and retrain. I had always had an interest in makeup (especially Special Effects makeup), so decided to do a course in both.
As I was completing my makeup course, a close friend of mine had just opened her own Cancer Centre and she asked if I would offer makeovers to the guests, as some of the ladies really needed a confidence boost. Naturally, I jumped on board and, I have to say, it is one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done!
And it was there, where the ‘Brow obsession’ started. A lot of the ladies who were losing their brows started asking me how they should be filling them in…. and you know what?….. I didn’t really know!
There is an art to getting brows right, especially on someone with no hair (if you battle with filling in your own brows, then you will fully appreciate what I am saying). If they’re too close, you can look a bit cross….. if they are too arched, you can look a bit surprised…. if they are too far apart, you can look a bit ‘alien like’… and it goes on….
I wanted to know exactly what I was doing, so decided to train with HD Brows… And I LOVED IT!!
From there, I was encouraged to train in lashes too… and I am just as addicted to them! I have always been very arty and love creating fiddly things, so the intricate, fine detail involved with lashing suits me down to the ground!
In 2016, I decided to specialise further and entered the world of Microblading. Although HD Brows are great, more and more people want a more permanent solution to filling in their brows… and microblading is the perfect solution.
I love the fine detail and how realistic it looks! I have a lot of compliments about my work but I believe a lot of that is down to good training and loving what I do! I always aim to provide the best possible service and highest quality treatments by keeping up to date with the latest techniques.
Over the last couple of years, I have continued to enhance my skills. After numerous hints from several of my existing clients, I have added new specialist, high-end treatments including Anti-aging Injectables and Filler (something I never thought I would be doing).
I see these as a perfect addition to the other treatments I offer. I take great pride in my work and I absolutely LOVE what I do! But being able to give someone just a small confidence boost is the best feeling of all!
